One of the really neat features of Plasma is the way in which it handles multiple background layers. By drawing backgrounds on top of each other, we enable some cool effects such as Parallax Scrolling. Check out this demo video:
This is a great test of Plasma because it uses so many features all at once. It tests out solid backgrounds, image backgrounds, and tiled backgrounds, as well as movement, key and screen tap/drag events, and repeated images. Because of the tiled images on the top layer, we could extend the ‘level’ for a very long distance without using much texture space at all.
We are really excited about the possibilities layered backgrounds will bring to developers, and are working hard on other new features as we prepare to release Plasma 1.0!
